River Educational 2022
2, 3, 7 May 2022
Centro Culturale San Gaetano
Via Altinate 71, Padova
In 2022, in addition to the consolidated tradition of international film competition, River Film Festival from Padua (organized by the Researching Movie Association) opens to media literacy and image education activities, inaugurating the new River Educational format, aimed at bringing high school students closer to a more conscious use of contemporary media.
The initiative was born as a place of transmission of knowledge, exchange and intergenerational dialogue to promote the teaching of audiovisual language and give visibility to film products made by students and cinema related to the themes of adolescence and youth also in relation to the context of belonging.
We save our young people
If, as the MIUR-MIBACT Commission points out, «young Italians generally do not possess the sufficient tools – grammatical, syntactic, historical, critical – to read, decode and use consciously the impressive mass of artificial images» which is produced every day, it is increasingly evident how important it is to strengthen models in schools that aim to give audiovisual content a plural and collective dimension.
River Educational intends to respond to this urgency, offering the territory a path of film literacy that consists of workshops, training meetings and film discussions.
